Nick and I have been married over 9 years and have been together for 17! (How are we old enough for that!?)

Military. The times we were apart through 8 years of military life make us more appreciative of the time we have now and the moments we get to experience together. We experienced loss, hardship, 6 or 7 or 8 moves (I forget, lol) lived in Hawaii (a dream we did not even know we had), met some of our bestest friends and developed a deeper bond through the highs and lows of military life. This picture still makes me tear up…

Parenthood. Nick as a Dad is just the coolest thing ever. I did not think I could love him more… then he became a father… And little Kalia has him wrapped around her tiny little finger.

And finally gratitude. Nick & I recently started writing our thanks to one another everyday. Our lives are very busy right now- pregnancy, toddler, careers, MBA, Nick’s constant travel and in the mess of it all, we forget (or me I should say, I am exhausted at the end of the day, baby has taken over the host body) how much we do for each other. I started writing it down so he would know. Marriage is work, the good kind of work, and reminding Nick how much I appreciate him is the least I can do. It is fun to see what we write each day- and it is often very mundane- taking out trash, dishes, etc, but it makes me smile everyday. He wrote me one the other day as a Thank you for my little notes:
